Why I'm Running
-
Why I am running for congress: I believe that the country is heading in the wrong direction. The American has been deceived in thinking that we can tax and spend our way into prosperity. Deficit and unwise spending is the root cause of nearly all economic and social problems we are experiencing today. I do not believe the major political parties have the political will to do the right thing.
I believe that my work experience, passion and the fact that I am not a lawyer uniquely qualifies me for the position. My experience with the railroad and observing first hand the consequences of government monetary and fiscal policy has had on the American Economy, from the Staggers Act to the fall of the Soviet Union.
From a young man I have had an interest in how economies work. I read a book called Free to Choose, by Milton Friedman before my first economic course in college, I was a challenge to my economics professor who I still respect today.
Why do I want to be a congressman? Because I think it is the wage earner and those who employ them should be the first priority in our economy. Not international corporations, and politicians who insulate themselves from the real world.
